The Mount Etna Hiking Tour is a half-day trekking experience designed for travelers who want to explore the volcano on foot. It is ideal for those who prefer a relaxed but immersive adventure, without facing extreme altitude or demanding elevation changes. Indeed, this tour offers one of the most accessible ways to discover the fascinating landscapes of Mount Etna up close.
The tour starts from Montata Grande, our winery and meeting point on the slopes of the volcano. From here, the route follows a carefully selected trail through some of the most representative areas of Mount Etna. Specifically, the path crosses spectacular lava fields and passes by ancient extinct craters, clear evidence of the volcano’s long eruptive history.
One of the highlights of the Mount Etna Hiking Tour is the visit to a lava cave. This underground passage is safely accessible and fully equipped for exploration. Furthermore, it offers a unique opportunity to understand how lava flowsshape the landscape from within. In fact, stepping inside the volcano is an experience that few other tours in the world can offer.
The hike then continues towards the impressive Valle del Bove, a vast volcanic depression offering breathtaking views over lava flows. Moreover, this stop provides a unique perspective on the scale and power of Mount Etna. As a result, it is one of the most photographed and memorable moments of the entire experience.
Throughout the hike, an expert nature guide accompanies the group. Consequently, guests receive clear and engaging explanations about the geology of the volcano, its eruptive history, and the local flora and fauna. The trek follows well-marked trails with moderate elevation changes, making it enjoyable for a wide range of fitness levels. At the end of the excursion, the group returns to Montata Grande for a complimentary tasting of typical Etna products. Therefore, those who wish may also stay to enjoy lunch or an aperitif in a welcoming atmosphere, surrounded by the authentic charm of the Etna area.
