The minivan allows us to collect our guests directly from Catania or from our meeting point at Montata Grande, in the Etna countryside near Trecastagni, and comfortably connect the different stages of the excursion.
This is how two distinct but complementary experiences were created: the Love Etna Morning Tour, dedicated to discovering the southern side of Mount Etna during the morning, and the Love Etna Sunset Tour, designed for those who wish to end the day watching the sunset over the volcano.
Discover Mount Etna in the comfort of a minivan
Mount Etna covers a vast area. Its most interesting natural and scenic locations can be several kilometres apart.
Travelling by minivan allows us to move comfortably between the different stops, without requiring guests to use their own vehicle and allowing the entire group to travel together.
The vehicle does not replace the outdoor experience. Instead, it helps us reach the locations where the walks, visits and panoramic stops begin.
During the journey, guests can also observe how the landscape gradually changes, from the towns and cultivated fields on the lower slopes to the forests and volcanic environments found at higher altitudes.
Small groups for a more personal experience
Our new Mount Etna minivan tours are organised for small groups.
This allows the guide to give more attention to each participant, answer questions and explain the territory at a more relaxed pace.
A smaller group also makes it easier to stop at panoramic viewpoints, move along the trails and enjoy each stage without the confusion that often comes with large organised tours.
Whenever possible, we also try to avoid the places most heavily affected by mass tourism.

It is not always possible to have Mount Etna entirely to ourselves, as other human beings have apparently also discovered the volcano. However, our knowledge of the area allows us to look for quieter alternatives whenever conditions permit.
Love Etna Morning Tour
The Love Etna Morning Tour is designed for those who wish to discover Mount Etna during the cooler hours of the day through an accessible itinerary combining panoramic views, volcanology and local traditions.
Departure is available from our meeting point in Catania or directly from Montata Grande, near Trecastagni. (Meeting point page)
From there, we will begin our ascent by minivan along the southern side of the volcano.

Our first stop will be Piano Vetore, one of the most interesting panoramic areas on the southern side of Mount Etna.
From this location, it is possible to observe Etna’s summit area and identify the main craters that form the highest part of the volcano.
The guide will explain the structure of Mount Etna, its evolution and the main transformations caused by its most recent eruptions.
Piano Vetore also provides an excellent perspective on the vastness of the Etna territory and the contrast between vegetation, lava flows and the summit area.
The lava cave
Continuing towards an altitude of approximately 2,000 metres, we will reach a lava tube cave.
The cave will be viewed from the outside, while the guide explains how these unusual natural formations develop during volcanic eruptions.
Lava tubes are among the most fascinating traces of activity within a lava flow. When the outer surface of the lava cools and hardens, molten material may continue flowing beneath it, eventually leaving behind an empty tunnel.
This stop offers the opportunity to discover a less visible side of the volcano, often overlooked by visitors who focus only on the craters.
A walk around the lateral craters
After reaching the area at approximately 2,000 metres above sea level, we will take a walk to visit some of Mount Etna’s lateral craters.
The route allows guests to walk along the crater rims and observe the volcanic formations created by past eruptions.
During the visit, we will explain how volcanic cones form, the difference between summit craters and lateral craters, and how lava flows continually reshape the landscape.
The walk is not intended to be a demanding trek. It is an accessible nature experience for those who want to discover Mount Etna without facing long or particularly difficult trails.
Tasting at Montata Grande
After visiting the higher-altitude areas, we will return to Montata Grande.
Here, guests can enjoy a tasting of local products and discover some of the flavours connected to the traditions of the Etna region.
The tasting is a pleasant way to conclude the tour and explore the relationship between the volcano, agriculture and the communities living on its slopes.
At the end of the experience, guests who departed from Catania will be taken back to the original meeting point.
Love Etna Sunset Tour
The Love Etna Sunset Tour is dedicated to those who wish to discover Mount Etna during the afternoon and end the experience by watching the sunset from the lateral craters at an altitude of approximately 2,000 metres.
Departure is available from Catania (meeting point page) or directly from Montata Grande.
Tasting in the Etna countryside
For guests departing from Catania, the first stop will be Montata Grande, in the countryside near Trecastagni.
Here, guests will enjoy a tasting of local products as an introduction to the flavours and traditions of the Etna region.
This stop allows the experience to begin at a relaxed pace, while guests get to know the group and discover the connection between fertile volcanic soil, vineyards and local produce.
After the tasting, we will travel by minivan towards the higher slopes of Mount Etna.
The landscape of the Bove Valley
The second stop will be dedicated to the Bove Valley, the enormous volcanic depression located on the eastern side of Mount Etna.
From one of the panoramic viewpoints reached during the tour, guests can admire this vast natural amphitheatre, surrounded by steep walls and crossed by numerous lava flows.
The Bove Valley is one of the most representative landscapes on Mount Etna. Its immense scale helps visitors understand the powerful geological processes that have shaped the volcano over thousands of years.
During the stop, the guide will explain the origin of the valley, its role during volcanic eruptions and the characteristics of the surrounding landscape.
Whenever possible, we will choose less crowded viewpoints, allowing guests to enjoy the scenery in a quieter atmosphere.
Lateral craters at sunset
After the panoramic visit to the Bove Valley, we will reach the lateral crater area at an altitude of approximately 2,000 metres.
Here, we will take a walk among volcanic cones, lava flows and landscapes characterised by the dark colours of volcanic rock.
The final part of the tour will be dedicated to sunset.
From the craters, guests can watch the light gradually change as the sun descends towards the horizon, illuminating the volcanic landscape with warmer shades.
Sunset on Mount Etna is not simply a moment to photograph. It is an opportunity to stop, observe the landscape and experience the volcano as the higher areas begin to empty and the mountain slowly regains its tranquillity.
At the end of the visit, the group will return by minivan. Drop-off will be available at Montata Grande or at the original meeting point in Catania, depending on the selected departure location.
