Excursion to the central crater, welcome to the tallest active volcano in Europe: Welcome to Etna!

An incredible experience that will take you to the roof of Sicily just an hour’s drive from Catania.

Etna today represents the highest peak in Sicily with its over 3300m altitude.

From here a landscape opens up that touches the extremes of Sicily such as the Aeolian Islands and Calabria to the North, Syracuse to the South, the Madonie Mountains to the West and the blue of the Ionian Sea to the East.

We will accompany you along the sides of Etna up to the edge of its largest and oldest mouth: the central crater.

It gives you goosebumps to know that you are right on the crest of the central crater, one of the 4 active craters… but without being afraid, because this, as well as all our excursions, are carried out with the utmost safety and prudence.

During the journey through the sandy lava expanses it will be interesting to learn about the events that have distorted the physiognomy of the summit part of Etna with more or less recent eruptions.

Once we reach an altitude of 2900m, we will begin a trek which, due to its commitment, we highly recommend to expert hikers.

The trekking on the lava sands will take us from the foot of the summit craters directly to the edge of the majestic central crater to admire what lies inside the crater itself!
